Wild plants surround us and shape every aspect of our lives: the food on our plates, the clothes on our backs, and the places we live. But the old stories tell us that the spirits of nature and of place are not all that they seem. What happens when they are pushed too far – and will humans be the worse for it? Whose land is it anyway?

Lisa Schneidau tells wild stories from the British and Irish traditions that will surprise, shock and inspire you. Meet leafy demons, bad-tempered boggarts, travelling trees and the wrath of the Little People. Devon’s green and pleasant land will never seem the same again.

Lisa takes an old story – and along the way, reshapes and updates it with captivating skill, wit and verve.
